The Terrapins men’s lacrosse team played two scrimmages Saturday at Byrd Stadium, defeating Bucknell, 9-8, and Towson, 14-5, in its first organized competition of the year.

Team USA White won the intrasquad competition at the Champion Challenge in Florida on Sunday, beating the Blue squad 12-5. The game served as the final tryout before coach Richie Meade and staff trim down the roster to 30 players in preparation for the 2014 FIL World Championships.
Meade said on the broadcast that “four or five” players were on the bubble fighting for spots

The Maryland wrestling team edged North Carolina, 18-15, for its first ACC victory of the season Friday night. Spencer Myers clinched the contest with a technical fall victory in the final match of the night.
Billy Rappo and Tyler Goodwin gave the Terps production at the lower weights, while No. 1 Jimmy Sheptock and Ty Snook put Myers in a position to clinch the match with runaway victories. It was the Terps first win since Dec. 1.

Listen, the Terps put up a hechuva effort tonight but one thing is clear–the better team did something very few ACC teams have done in recent years—dominated Maryland at College Park for just about the whole game. The final score was not indicative of the game although the Terps had a few chances to really close the gap.
I thought Jake Layman played perhaps his best game of the year finishing with 18 points and making several strong defensive plays.
