GREENSBORO, N.C. – The top-ranked Maryland field hockey team collected all three of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s top individual honors Monday. Jill Witmer was named Offensive Player of the Year, Ali McEvoy was named Defensive Player of the Year and Missy Meharg was named ACC Coach of the Year for the seventh time.
Some observations on a vivctory that just might begin a Ravens move back into the playoff picture:
As I predicted this morning on “In the Nest” Cincy was way overrated and the Bengals would certainly have trouble at the Bank. The Ravens came out hot and despite some offensive weakness basically dominated the game for 59 minutes and 58 seconds.

Senior Alyssa Thomas had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the No. 6 Maryland women’s basketball team to an 89-53 victory over Loyola at Comcast Center Sunday afternoon.
The Terrapins (2-0, 0-0 ACC) dominated from the opening tip, limiting the Greyhounds (0-1, 0-0 Patriot League) to just 35 percent shooting for the contest. Senior Alicia DeVaughnchipped in 14 points and six rebounds while freshmanShatori Walker-Kimbrough had a strong outing with 10 points and four assists.

On every level today was extremely disappointing for Maryland. Bowl eligibility was on the line. Cj, Stinebaugh, Brandon Ross, LA Goree, returned to the lineup. The Terps had 2 weeks to heal their wounds and prepare for this game. On and on. Some observations of my first visit to Brooklyn Hoops at the Barclay Center:
At first glance of the stats this is what stands out: Huskies had 6 Blocks and 10 Steals–the Terps 0 blocks and 5 steals
The quickness of UConn just created many more easy shots. Super guard Shabazz Napier dominated play with 18 points, 7 bounds, and 7 assists. When he fouled out the entire game changed.
