The Maryland men’s basketball team will face Alabama on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the National Invitation Tournament quarterfinals in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The Crimson Tide, which are a No. 1 seed, advanced to the quarterfinals with a 66-54 win over Stanford on Saturday afternoon. Tuesday’s game will be televised on ESPN.

The winner of Tuesday’s game advances to the semifinals, which will be held on April 2 in New York.

The fourth-seeded Maryland women’s basketball team will take on fifth-seeded Michigan State Monday at 7 p.m. in the NCAA Second Round at Comcast Center. Tickets are still available on UMTerps.com.

Monday’s game will be shown live on ESPN2 and ESPN3. The winner of the Terps-Spartans matchup will advance to Bridgeport, Conn. for the Regional Semifinals Saturday at noon.

Alyssa Thomas had 29 points and 13 rebounds, and Maryland outmuscled Quinnipiac, 72-52, in the NCAA First Round in College Park Sunday.

The fourth-seeded Terrapins (25-7) trailed by nine in the first half, moved in front 27-23 at the break and dominated the second half against the smaller Bobcats, who couldn’t stop Thomas’ repeated forays into the lane.

Maryland scored five runs in the final two innings, but its comeback fell short as Wake Forest (13-12, 2-6 ACC) held on for a wild 8-7 victory Saturday afternoon at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium.

An eight-run eighth inning by the Demon Deacons was the Terps undoing and spoiled a strong effort from Terrapin starter Brady Kirkpatrick. The junior pitched seven-shutout innings with six strikeouts.

The No. 1 University of Maryland men’s lacrosse team scored six of the final eight goals, but couldn’t complete the comeback in a 10-8 loss to No. 14 North Carolina in front of 3,053 at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The result drops the Terps to 6-1 on the season and evens their ACC mark at 1-1, while the Tar Heels improve to 5-3 overall and are also 1-1 in conference play.
