This could be a monumental day for Maryland Athletics.

There are many divided on this topic but it certainly appears that we are closer to having real reason to hate Urban Meyer.

Gary Williams’ support of the move means a tremendous amount to me and most Terrapin fans. For years and years we have been treated like the stepchild of the ACC. Our presence is a necessity but our successes are distasteful for the Carolina controlled league.

But the bottom … Read More »

Sometime early in the game, I remarked that we were actually in better shape when the Steelers had the ball. Down the stretch, Leftwich actually threw a few perfect passes but the Steelers were unabe to hold to hold on due to vicious hits from Pollard and Co.

#5 turned in a Trent Dilferesque type performance only producing 3 points on offense but committing 0 turnovers. Jacoby Jones actually secured the victory with a 63 yard punt return. The castoff … Read More »

Dan Metzger’s goal in the waning moments of regulation was the difference as No. 2 Maryland defeated Brown 2-1 in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament Sunday at Ludwig Field.

Bobby Belair scored early for Brown (13-3-3), before goals by Patrick Mullins and Metzger lifted Maryland (18-1-2) to the third round for a nation-best 11th season where it will face Coastal Carolina in next week’s third round.

My Quick Take on the game:

Former Maryland coach Gary Williams said today that the school’s proposed move to the Big Ten would be a tremendous boost for the Terps’ athletic program. In a telephone interview with The Baltimore Sun today, Williams said the school’s long history with ACC doesn’t pay the bills. “You look around today with what’s going on, and those schools [in the Big Ten] are certainly in keeping with what Maryland feels about academics. You look at a school like Notre Dame that signed its own … Read More »

This is the topic that has taken over all conversation in Terrapin nation. The handwriting is on the wall–The Reward from the Big Ten is just too big not to accept in my opinion. I keep thinking about the sadness in losing 8 teams just a few months back. The athletic department has been crippled financially. This move must be made!!!

Pros

Supposed $90—$100 million in the pot for Maryland— WOW!!

Fiscal responsibilty alone would probably leave the Terps with … Read More »

My buddy Roman called me up on the way home from the FSU game and asked a simple question–Who was the backup to Tom Matte when #41 ws thrust into the starting QB role for the Colts? I had no answer . Unitas and then Cuozzo were knocked out and in came Matte (after Ed Brown was allowed to play the final game against the Rams).

Randy Edsall could not go to the waiver wires and pick up a QB. … Read More »

Who said there wasn’t any pressure when you are unbeaten? No matter what happens I just don’t want to see Nick Saban in the Championship game.

For now, it is the strangest expansion news since this latest go-round started in December 2009.

In five years it might remind us that Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany remains the smartest man in any room.

Maryland and Rutgers to the Big Ten? Really? The ACC has a $50 million exit fee. ACC commissioner John Swofford – that sly old fox – was thought to have hit the grand slam when he landed Notre Dame in everything but football. Swofford … Read More »
