Suffice it to say, 2011 didn’t go exactly as planned for the Tribe. Picked by the Colonial Athletic Association coaches to win the league, William & Mary never found itself and missed the playoffs for the first time in three years. A sputtering offense had much to do with the disappointment. W & M averaged just 168.5 yards passing (ninth in the CAA) and was 10th in scoring. Veteran coach Jimmye Laycock stressed fundamentals this spring but made no secret … Read More »
No. 1 Maryland pulled out a thrilling 3-2 win in double overtime at No. 11 Stanford Sunday. The Terps trailed through the second half, then Jill Witmer scored to force OT. Katie Gerzabek scored with 24 seconds left in the second OT for the 3-2 win.
“This game was such a great opportunity for us to experience all facets of the game and so many situations,” head coach Missy Meharg said. “Stanford is extremely talented. We pulled our goalie in the final minutes … Read More »
The No. 9 Maryland men’s soccer team avenged last year’s NCAA tournament loss with a 3-0 opening game victory over seventh-ranked Louisville Friday at Ludwig Field. Schillo Tshuma, Dan Metzger and John Stertzer all scored for Maryland (1-0). Sunny Janepaced the Terps with a pair of assists. Next up for Maryland is UCLA Friday night at 7:30 at Ludwig.
Billy Cundiff never would have had a chance to succeed in Baltimore after the New England miss. He needs a new start and received that possibility with his release on Sunday. When Justin Tucker popped that 53 yarder that was a dead straight line — no hook–through the uprights, I do believe Billy’s fate was sealed in the mind of Coach Harbaugh.
Some of my comments on this great victory for Head Coach Dave Cottle and the Chesapeake Bayhawks:
Where as I thought the Bayhawkks were too deep and strong for Denver,i never saw this one sided game as the outcome. Both of the regular season match ups were brutally tight games that could have gone either way. Not today. The Bayhawks … Read More »

In ESPN.com’s Dave Telep’s “Elite 24 Saturday Notebook” that was published earlier today, Telep discussed the Harrison twins, Andrew and Aaron. The two have made it obvious that they will be attending the same school and have trimmed their list to Kentucky, Maryland, SMU, and Baylor. They will be making their official visits to SMU … Read More »
Three times Toronto tried to run on Matt Wieters. By the 3rd time the runner wasout by so much he pulled up and created a rundown. Poor managing. The O’s move to 69-57 with 36 games left. My guess is they need 90 wins which means a 21-15 close. It’s definitely doable since we have 7 more against Toronto, 3 against Seattle, and 6 against the Red Sox. Here is the curent wild card Standings.

Just some random thoughts while waiting to watch the MLL title game tomorrow at 3PM:
The Outlaws spotted Long Island a 12-3 before storming to a 1 goal win. Jeremy Sieverts scored the winner for Denver. Denver was greatly effected by the injury to Brendan Mundorf, the MLL MVP.
After a slow start the Bayhawks grabbed the lead at halftime and eventually coasted to an easy win over the defending champions , the Boston Cannon.
Coach Dave Cottle was on … Read More »
