Early in the year we new every victory for the Terps would be hard fought and require unmatched effort. Over the next 9 days Maryland will face BC, UVA, Miami , and Georgia Tech. Better late then never. Ernie has deserved this honor ever since he graduated. He was an integral part of the growth of the Terrapins program. Ernie is best known for holding the single game scoring record for Maryland at 44 points. The ceremony begins at 8:40 on Thursday night and there are still a few tickets remaining. Seniors Kyle John and Corey Peltier from wrestling and Shelby Reyes from water polo have been selected for the Weaver-James-Corrigan Award, Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced Monday.
The award is given to 36 student-athletes, including three student-athletes who will receive the Thacker Award. Additionally, six student-athletes who plan to enter a professional career in their chosen sport were named honorary recipients.

Junior Tianna Hawkins of the eighth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team (21-4, 8-4 ACC) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Player of the Week the league announced Monday.
Hawkins, a native of Clinton, Md., shot over 72 percent from the field, averaged 18.3 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per contest last week.
