How long can the bullpen survive these near misses. Timely hitting and George Sherrill again keyed a 5-4 Oriole victory before 22,000 Friday night at Camden Yards. I am sure the eyes of Trembley and MacPhail are already cast to Norfolk and Bowie for soon to be needed bullpen help. On the other hand, 4th starter Mark Hendrickson allowed just 1 run on 6 hits in 5 1/3 innings.Put this one in the win column.

   The Orioles fate for 2008 has now been sealed.  Sitting at 48-53 with the next 6 games against the Angels and Yankees, the Orioles will be mired in last place in the AL East and ready to entertain offers for George Sherrill and Aubrey Huff, 2 Orioles having career years. There is just no starting pitching on this squad with the exception of Guthrie. The next 7 days days should be very interesting.

   Another furious comeback failed Sunday as the O’s Sunday jinx continued with a 11-10 loss to the Texas Rangers.  The bullpen failed to keep Texas in check and the Birds squandered numerous chances to score which was amplified in a 1 run loss.  George Sherrill was selected to represent the Orioles in the All Star game.
