How good is Jake Layman? He dominated in high school but he played against sub-par competition.

To answer your question I bring up Pat Connaughton. This time last year everyone said the same thing about him. He dominated poor competition in Massachusetts. So what! Connaughton can play and so can Jake Layman. It’s not the size of the pond, it’s the fight in the fish. Layman was one of the EYBL’s steals leaders and I think … Read More »

Jake Layman (Maryland) led five players in double figures with 18 points as the United States Under-18 team rolled to a second consecutive convincing victory, defeating Mexico 110-59 in the FIBA Americas U18 Championships on Sunday.

The United States dominated the paint. It outrebounded Mexico 50-38 and outscored them in the paint, 70-34. At the same time, the U.S. struggled from the perimeter, connecting on just 4-of-23 3-point attempts.

When the ink is on the 3 LOIs (Letter of Intent), the near future of Terrapin basketball will be secure!!! Add the remainders of this year’s squad and Maryland should be able to challenge for an ACC Title next year.

according to terrapintimes.com:

Mitch McGary–heavy Duke lean

Amile Jefferson—-NC State, UConn, or Syracuse

Charles Mitchell—postpones decision til spring –probably out as a Terp

This leaves a 3 man 2012 recruiting class—Jake Layman, Seth Allen, and Shaquille Cleare. Combine this class with the returnees and Turgeon will have plenty to work with in 2012-13. Plus you just don’t know who might become available.

The incredible efforts of Mark Turgeon and his staff continue to pay off as Jake Layman, a top 40 sharpshooter is on board. Tonight we will get up some of his video. Along with Seth Allen, and Shaquille Cleare this 2012 class should be in the top 10 in the nation. Stay tuned hopefully more to follow.

Now I know why Bino, Turge, G , Calipari, etc have spent so much time in Houston. This is one awesome team. My analysis of the 5 Terrapin targets:

Shaquille Cleare–tremendous mobility for a 6’9 285 lb guy. More then held his own against one of the best defenders in the nation. Has a great sense fo rthe ball inside. Gets up real quick for someone so big. When the ball gets in his hands it’s over. Good inside moves. … Read More »
