Not that it matters, but why did Buck leave Jeremy in the game after 5 straight 2 out hits. Gotta second guess this one.
3-3 since the break without Vlad—Derrick Lee Big HR tonight
The O’s are back to one game under 500 with Guthrie on the mound tonight. Unfortunately David price will be pitching for Tampa. Arietta turned in a strong 7 inning shutout performance. Gonzo pitched mop up in the 9th and it was definitely mop up.
Jeremy Guthrie was incredible last night but……… 2 out in the 8th—Luke Scott made a miserable throw on an Ichiro grounder—then a line drive single to right—You can feels the wheels coming off the car—Buck has no one ready in the bullpen—Boom Justin Smoak 3 run dinger. No one 2nd guessed Buck but I will.Oh well–5 in a row and the Birds are on their way to free fall. Again.
Buck was fuming at Luke Scott for a base running … Read More »
His name is Jeremy Guthrie. Throw strikes, challenge the hitters.—has been the formula for success for the guy who was brought here be our #1. Well it may have taken a year and a half but he has arrived. Buck is now 33-22 since his arrival. Felix Pie had a terrific 1st game as the O’s swept the Tigers.
Beautiful night at the ballpark as the O’s winn easily moving Buck’s record to 18-13.
Jeremy Guthrie pirched near flawless ball—in virtual total command of the strike zone.
Markakis and Wieters lead the way offensively.
One sour point –Koji was tagged for 2 dingers in a mop-up effort.
Utterly amazing!! Showalter makes all the perfect moves. Gonzo then Koji to close out the 9th. The O’s have ruined the Angels season. Now let’s do some damage to Boston!!!
It was great to settle in to my sofa after returning home from the National Sports Collectors show, to watch the final 4 innings of the O’s Games. Guthrie and Wiggy led the way yesterday. And yes, that is the New Markakis being a leader by example. 5 out of 6 for Buck!! For a guy who is bitter over not being selected as the new Skip, Rick Dempsey still displays his love for the O’s.
When scoring 4 runs or less the O’s moved 3-50. Strong efforts by Guthrie and the bullpen.
That’s 3 in a row. Tejada, Luke Scott, are turning it on –now if the weatherman would only give the O’s a break.
