The third-ranked Maryland field hockey team (9-1) dominated Princeton, 6-2, Tuesday night at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Five different Terrapins scored as 19 Maryland players saw action in the game.
Junior co-captain Megan Frazer put the Terrapins on the board early with a penalty corner deflection less than four minutes in. Sophomore Ali McEvoy notched the assist.
Sophomore Witmer is clearly developing as the key offensive threat on the team.
Sophomore Jill Witmer scored twice to lead the Terps.
Four members of the national champion Maryland field hockey team were named All-Americans Monday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Senior Katie O’Donnell and sophomore Megan Frazer were named First Team All-Americans. IMG_0005The Maryland field hockey team, ranked No. 2 in the latest Kookaburra / NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, opened its Atlantic Coast Conference slate with a 4-2 win Saturday over No. 11 Boston College. Senior Katie O’Donnell broke the ACC’s career points record in the first half with an assist. Freshman Jill Witmer scored twice for the Terps.
Ali McEvoy and Jill Witmer (pictured)were highly heralded freshman and they have proven to be so. The 2 newcomers combined with O’Donnell to score Maryland’s 3 goals to best a stubborn ODU team.

Senior Katie O’Donnell is with the US National team for a seven-game series in Europe. Team USA won three of four matches in Valencia, Spain against the Spanish team and will move on for three games in England. The Americans will get a sneak peak at the venue for the 2012 Olympic games in a tour during their time in England.
