The hunt goes on. I guess when you try to hire someone who is already making 1-2 million a year, you better have 3 or 4 guys ready as backups. At this moment -that is 1AM Monday morning perhaps the field looks like the following:

John Lucas– a late entry who has coached on many levels and of course is the accomplished point guard for the Terps under Lefty—longshot

Mike Brey -Coach of the Regular season Big East champion Notre … Read More »

If you listened to Koons Ford Terp Talk tonight , you heard myself and several callers expound on tremendous hire Randy Shannon would be as the Terps Defensive Coordinator. The Sunpapers has reported that Shannon wants to come to Maryland but had to return to Miami on personal business. CLOSE THE DEAL.  Randy is the choice. His history as a DC is incredible and his ties to Miami high school football are unparalleled

Embedded below is the audio from Randy Edsall’s introductory press conference today.  I’ll have some thoughts and analysis on the presser over the next few days, but if you didn’t get to catch the broadcast on TerpsTV, take a listen to the audio below.  The audio cuts out with about 5 minutes left in the press conference as there wasn’t enough space on my recorder (my apologies!).

Everything about Randy’s first presser was positive today. He spoke only of ACC championships as judgment criteria for the football team. He genuinely seems ecstatic about being here. There’s just not much to say–Anderson was hired as AD to fill vacant posts and he alone (according to him) should be held responsible for the decision. Randy surely is qualified for the job. I ilked how he handled himself with the press. Chick Hernandez spoke of the uproar of Terrapin nation … Read More »

This is not the way anyone wanted Ralph’s career to end at College Park. But the choice came down to a lame duck year, a new 4 or 5 year contract or 100% buyout of his remaining year. Ralph will receive $2 Million dollars for not coaching next year. To guess what could have happened is pure conjecture but perhaps the University tried to cut a deal and Ralph and his lawyers said no deal.Kevin Anderson was obviously unwilling to … Read More »

If, and it seems almost certain, that Mike Leach becomes the new head coach of the Terrapins, AD Kevin Anderson will have completed a series of steps designed to do 2 things–fill the many empty seats at Byrd and bring Terrapin football back to national prominence. The Coach in waiting theory might have been a good idea at first but recently it has wrecked havoc with the program. By James leaving for Vanderbilt and Ralph being bought out of his … Read More »

Some observations of a great day at Scott Stadium :

Again the d could not  stop Marc Verica early- 165 yards passing in first half

Virginia had 14 penalties for the day—however several were for pass interference that saved touchdowns.  Early in the first half a UVA corner virtually tackled Torrie that saved a TD –Terps were rewarded with a 15 yard penalty—rule must be changed

UVA receivers were wide open for the … Read More »
