I don’t know what game Stan Van Gundy was watching but one on one defense against Kobe just isn’t going to work. #24 wound up with 40 points on 16-34 shooting and Superman Dwight Howard was held to 1-6 from the field. I was thinking Lakers in 6 but after this game make that 5 games. Phil Jackson is 43-0 in NBA series when his team wins game 1.
The Magic is a much better and deeper team with its PG in the lineup. He seems to be making progress but this could just be a Van Gundy ploy to disrupt the Lakers preparation for the title series. Dwight Howard to be on a mission but Kobe is Kobe and the Lakers win easily in 6. The Lakers will need to be better guarding the 3, therefore I doubt we will see extensive doubleteaming of Superman.
40 Games in 40 nights has proven one thing to me: Kobe Bryant is still the best player in basketball. Sorry Melo, LeBron, Dwight –Kobe plays 48 minutes, takes a beating without complaining, and is able not to wear down. No matter who wins the East it’s the Lakers in no more then 6 games for the title.
I said the other day that Carmelo is beginning to face being worn out at the end of games. Wednesday night was no exception. The Nuggets looked frozen in time for the first 2 minutes of the 4th quarter and totally threw away game 5 to the Lakers. It almost seems like this Denver team runs on its own anger not even paying attention to George Karl. Last night it was one mistake after another all involving anger control. … Read More »
Ba Ba Ba Billups was incredible last night playing 42 minutes with 0 turnovers, that’s right 0. The Lakers are stinking out the joint, for the time being. But, the Nuggets might be able to win at home without a great performance from Melo, but not on the road. Carmelo is not himself playing on a sore ankle and this series is just too rapid fire to recover. Therefore the Lakers, despite playing uninpired , watching Kobe basketball, are in … Read More »
Early in the first half, Carmelo was being shut down and the Nuggets were getting blown away by theLakers, when Linas Kleiza was inserted into the lineup. He nailed 3 threes and brought Denver back into the game. Carmelo Anthony again was superb scoring 34 and adding a tremendous physical presence to the Denver lineup. Next game Saturday Night at 8:30 from Denver.
The Score is 101-99 Lakers, Denver ball and who does George Karl allow to throw the ball in 6’2 Anthony Carter. Phil Jackson puts Lamar Odum on him and sure enough Carter throws the ball away and that was that. Melo was incredible 39 points with 14-20 from the field. Of course Kobe got every call and scored 40. Carmelo actually is too big for Kobe to guard. What a series this will be.
