The No. 7 Maryland (9-2) men’s lacrosse team looks to win the ACC regular season title on Saturday, April 19 when it plays at No. 8 Notre Dame (6-4) at Arlotta Stadium. Faceoff between the Terps and the Fighting Irish is scheduled for noon.
• Maryland will look to rebound from its second loss of the season, an 11-6 defeat at Johns Hopkins last Saturday. Senior Rustin Bryant and juniors Joe LoCascio and Henry West each had two goals vs. the Blue Jays, while senior Mike Chanenchuk had three assists. Chanenchuk continues to lead the team this season with 40 points on 25 goals and 15 assists. He is followed by freshman Matt Rambo, who has 26 points on 21 goals and five assists. Junior faceoff specialist Charlie Raffa has won 112-of-175 (.640) faceoffs this season with a team-best 74 groundballs. Senior Michael Ehrhardt has made a seamless transition to the long-stick midfield spot and has 39 groundballs, which leads all non-faceoff men, and a team-best 22 caused turnovers to go along with two goals and an assist. Senior Niko Amato has started every game of his college career (61 straight) and boasts a 7.32 goals-against average (5th in the NCAA) with a .575 save percentage (7th in the NCAA) this season.
• Notre Dame is 6-4 on the season following its 15-5 home win over Robert Morris last Saturday. Sophomore attackman Matt Kavanaugh leads the Irish offense with 40 points on 21 goals and 19 assists. Freshman Shane Doss has started the last seven games in net for ND and has an 8.53 goals-against average and is saving 47.9 percent of the shots opponents have put on goal. Senior faceoff specialist Liam O’Connor ranks third in the NCAA in faceoff win percentage with .644 on 139-of-216. He is also ninth in the nation in groundballs per game with 8.60 (86 total).
