Towson’s Rob Ambrose Takes a Shot at Maryland

from the Sun

In speaking about the strides the Tigers have made as a program, Ambrose mentioned that he sees recruits wanting to play at his Football Championship Subdivision program over Maryland.
Here’s the full quote from Edward Lee’s CAA media day story:

“When we took the job, you had to travel farther to find people that didn’t have preconceived, negative connotations of what Towson football was. We did that, but we also found local kids that believed in our dreams. Heck, now everybody wants to be a part of this. Kids don’t want to go out of state. Kids don’t want to go to Maryland. They want to come to Towson, and now it’s been turning guys away and being much more selective. It’s a great thing for the school, and it’s a great thing for the city. I don’t want to sound trite, but it’s a hell of a time to be a Tiger.”
Let’s not forget that Ambrose was a longtime member of Maryland coach Randy Edsall’s staff at UConn.
Towson went to the FCS championship game last season but has lost most of the core of its team and was picked Wednesday to finish fifth in the CAA.
Maryland went to a bowl last season for the first time under Edsall and is preparing for its first season in the Big Ten.
The teams last played in 2011 — a game Maryland won, 28-3.

My take—No biggie. Just win in the Big Ten
