Miracle at Xfinity—Terps 68 Northwestern 67 on Last Second Shot by Dez

Most Terrapin fans never saw this comeback happening. NW dominated Play for 37 minutes and led by 11 with 328 left. Melo took the bull by the horns and triggered the successful comeback.

Melo amazes me more and more with each game. He never lost his cool even after missing a few shots down the wire. He finished with 27 points, 3 assists and 4 steals.

Dez caught fire when it really mattered and his closing rebound shot was incredible. He finished with 17 points but had 4 turnovers.

Layman once again did much of the dirty work –0nly had 7 shots for 8 points but lead the team with 8 bounds.

Smotrycz had to fill in at the post as the Terps bigs had 3 points and 3 rebounds in 27 minutes. I wonder how Turgeon will deal with this problem Thursday night at Ohio State.

I just don’t remember a comeback like this at Xfinity (Comcast). So the Terps are 6-2 in conference 4-0 at home and 2-2 on the road.

By the way a side point of happiness for me is that there is no doubt the comeback ruined Coach K’s day as he won his 1000th game and had to endure watching a key disciple (Chris Collins) lose to a team he hates. I will give Collins credit for being very gracious in his praise of Maryland after such a brutal loss.

exciting ending to overall a not so good performance by the terps. where was the intensity on defense most of the game. northwestern was schooling the terps. they must have had 8 uncontested layups..at least 4 off high post passes.

md had more size and athleticism and didn’t use it until late in the game. why?

where was the spacing and ball movement on offense.

i was impressed by northwestern’s execution and discipline. did you know yesterday’s was their 6th consecutive loss. great job by collins.

i watched wojo and marquette on sat. another well discipline, hustling team. congrats to coach k on a 1,000 wins. to win a 1,000 you have to be old.

anyway, the terps win and it was a great put back by dez wells
