Without a question this is the biggest game the Terps have played since Senior night for Greivis. Lots to prove to the nation and the NCAA Committee.
A quick look at the #5 Badgers:
Wisconsin brings a 10-game winning streak to XFINITY Center Tuesday after defeating Minnesota, 63-53, its last time out on Saturday. The Badgers’ two losses have come to Duke (12/3) and Rutgers (1/11).
Frank Kaminsky leads Wisconsin with 17.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Sam Dekker is averaging 13.1 points and 5.1 boards per game while Nigel Hayes is the third Badger scoring in double-figures with 12.1 points per outing.
Defensively, Wisconsin is surrendering a league-best 55.4 points per game and leads the Big Ten in scoring margin (+16.9).
The Terps trail in the all-time series, 5-2, but defeated Wisconsin 87-57 in the 2002 NCAA Tournament en route to the program’s first national championship
What must happen for the Terps to win tonight:
Must get a minimum of 20 points from the non top 3.
Fast start is mandatory. With Kaminsky, a big comeback might be nearly impossible.
Turnovers below 10 for Maryland
Kaminsky must be attacked and forced to play at a faster pace. There are 20 fouls to give between Graham, Dodd, Chhekko, and Smotrycz.
Terps are 7-0 at home. Prediction Maryland 69 Wisconsin 68
