Piggy Saves the Day —a 24 yard TD scamper takes the Terps to a 3-0 Record DEFEATING UCF 30-24

Holy Cow–What a game!! No this is not anything like last years UCF squad. They went toe to toe with Maryland yet fell short. it just doesn’t get more exciting.

Worrisome note—injuries? Perry Hills (shoulder), DJ Moore, Roman Braglio and many more left the games at various times. However, 2 weeks until next game.

Disappointment–Adam Greene in his 2 missed FGs.

Continues to impress—Lolo Harrison, Perry 0 turnovers in 3 games

Maryland freshman quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome replaced starter Perry Hills and on his only play of the game raced 24 yards for the game-winning score in a 30-24 double-overtime win for the Terrapins over UCF on Saturday night.

“I’m just so proud of our guys,” head coach DJ Durkin said. “There were so many times when they had to dig deep. The offense had to pick up the defense and the defense had to pick up the offense, special teams and everything. There was a lot of swings (of momentum) in that game. I think more than anything, when you look at our team we held strong through all of that, to me that’s a great sign for us. To me that’s not been indicative of what we have done. So that’s our first sign of adversity and how we were going to respond and we responded the right way.”

UCF freshman quarterback McKenzie Milton, making his first career start, committed his sixth fumble of the night and fourth turnover to begin the second overtime, setting the stage for Pigrome’s heroics.

The Knights tied the game early in the fourth quarter on a 42-yard field goal byMatthew Wright with 12:04 remaining. Neither offense was able to score again in regulation.

After struggling early in the first half, Hills and the Maryland offense settled down and began to capitalize on big plays. Hills 51-yard completion to receiverTeldrick Morgan helped set up Adam Greene‘s 33-yard field as time expired in the second quarter to give the Terps a 10-7 edge at halftime.

The Knights held a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter when Milton found running back Dontravious Wilson for a four-yard touchdown late in the second quarter. But Milton became erratic in the second quarter, committing two of his three first-half turnovers that allowed Maryland to get back into the game.

For whatever reason Maryland is the only team not getting respect because of its scheduling. UCF will win some football games and if you look at Iowa and the weak schedule they have losing to a FCS school (champion or not).
