“I really like this team. They’re very coachable and have worked very hard over the last three weeks. I like the pieces. We have great versatility and a lot of athleticism. I think our fans are really going to enjoy watching this team grow.”

On the freshmen:
“I think it reminds me a lot of Melo, Dion [Wiley] and Jared’s recruiting class. It’s a great group. They’re ready and prepared to play. They’ve competed very hard in practice and are extremely coachable. I’m excited to see how they continue to progress.”
Junior Guard Melo Trimble On becoming a leader this season:
“I’ve embraced the responsibility of being the team leader. I’ve worked hard on becoming a better leader over the past year. We have a great group of guys.
On the start of the 2016-17 season:
“This is the best time of the year, I love it. We get to spend a lot of time practicing and getting better. We’ve improved so much over the last three weeks and it’s great to see.”
“It’s been great. I had a great summer here and have really been working on my game. I had a great experience getting to know everyone and I think this is a great place for me. I’m really happy I’m here.”
On what made Maryland the right place for him:
“The system, the way Coach Turgeon creates the offense, the brotherhood, and the overall culture of the University of Maryland.”
On the expectations he has for himself and the team:
“I have my own personal expectations, but as for the team, I want to come in and win. I want us to continue the winning culture and tradition that’s been built here. As for myself, I haven’t ever had the experience to play in the NCAA Tournament so that’s something I’m looking forward to reaching.”
On what he can do to help the team:
“My energy, my rebounding, leadership and experience from being a senior. I’m a true senior so I hope to be a big leader for this team.”
Freshman Forward Kevin Huerter On what was the deciding factor in choosing to come to Maryland: “I was just really comfortable with the coaching staff. Coming on campus once I met all the players and got to spend time with them. I learned a little bit of the offense and knew it was the place for me.”
On the first few weeks of practice:
“They’ve definitely been tough.The coaches worked us hard. Practices have been really competitive. We’re getting through it, it’s all going good so far.”
“When those two are on the court, you’re playing with them. They’re fun to play with. Those guys can definitely get up and down, they share the ball, and they find guys open shots. Those are guys you love to play with.”
