Is it possible–Terps Lose 2nd in a Row at Home –Iowa 83 Terps 69

No spin–the Terps just got blown out at home.

Everything is in jeopardy now–The 1st round bye in the Big 10 Tourney

Any kind of decent seeding in the NCAAs

Jordan Bohannon was spectacular tonight going 8-10 from the trey line for 24 points

Tyler Cook dominated our bigs and finished with 21 points.

Where do we go from here?

On thing is for sure, the Terps will see a zone from here out.

Just like last year, the Terps get harder and harder to watch as the season progresses. There is no offensive rhythm and very little if any defensive intensity. Turgeon is lost. If his man to man defense is totally inept, why not go to a zone? Why not press to wake up his team and at least change the flow?

This afternoon, I am going to my grandson’s rec league game. I will see a younger version of Turgeon basketball. Four players will be standing around begging for the ball while one player dribbles and then either drives against 4 players or throws up a wild shot.

I agree that he can recruit. Problem is can he coach? The only player on the team that has gotten better under his coaching is Brantley. Melo is NOT better and no one else is either.

teams should be getting better as the season goes on. not backwards. not too long ago i said turgeon was coaching his best ball since coming to md. i don’t see good coaching now. as a matter of fact i see very little coaching.

whatever message the staff is trying to get to the players isn’t working. maybe it’s time to find different ways to get the message across.

i see other teams have figured out md’s offense and defense and made their adjustments. yet md continues to play the same offense and defense and despite neither working well i see no adjustments from the terp coaching staff.

i see a md team that plays hard on d sometimes but not for a majority of the game. on offense i see frustration, and a lack of patience resulting in bad turnovers, rushed shots and overall poor decisions.

the lack of boxing out is something we have seen on a consistent basis since turgeon came to college park and until someone is brought in to teach basic fundamentals nothing is going change here.

what is most disturbing is the lack of emotion and passion from the kids. they look disinterested.

i’m sure some players are tired and some are banged up. every team in the country can same the thing. freshman tired? yes but probably no more tired than the many many freshman who are playing big minutes for other schools. pretty sure iowa had a freshman, jordan bohannon, who made 8 of 10 3’s yesterday.

i would hope each player looks in the mirror and ask am i doing my best and i sure hope the coaching staff does the same. there is too much talent on this team for them to be playing this poorly, particularly at home.
