My response To Many of the Takes on Monday’s Game—BP

As always Dave well thought out and well written BUT you miss one crucial point. After 3 of the toughest situations Turgeon has faced in the Big 10 conference, he has figured out how to combat these stronger, healthier squads with deeper benches. Just as Lefty used to do when facing superior depth and talent, Turgeon brilliantly slowed the game down–walking the ball up court, using up most of the 30 second clock, and playing defense as well as they could. Michigan was in total bewilderment in the 1st half. Furthermore after the Wolverines made the run all good teams make at home, the band of 7 fought back to take the lead. Are the Terps ready for the next 3 games? Yes they are . Two of the 3 are at home. And yes Sparty will NEVER beat us at home in the same manner. As for the last play –it just happened — no blame game just basketball. Perhaps the best coaching job by Turge since he has been at Maryland.

First of all we both know that Michigan played horribly the first half. They missed at least three open layups and could not hit their outside shots. As far as Maryland using up the clock, we almost always use up the clock. When we finally took our shots, they were often not good shots. Many times when Cowan drove to the basket others were open and he did not pass. The word “brilliant” does not ever belong in the same sentence with the name Turgeon. The best he can do is adequate.
