Around The Horn w BP By the Number

I had to scratch my head to find some positives from today’s 24-3 loss to Sparty before 31,000 at College Park.

So as usual I just go to the numbers:

Wade Lees, the Terps punter punted 8 times for 360 yds–a 45 yard average, including a few into a sometimes savage wind. Well done

100 total yards—on 53 plays from scrimmage—Kasim was 8-21 for 74 yards but momentum was hurt by some early drops.

Tre Watson, once again was excellent with 13 tackles.

Overall the defense once again played hard and seemed to be on the field a vast majority of time.

There were probably 4 or 5 plays that the Terps could not finish on, especially the 4th quarter fumble into the endzone by Byron Cowart after his int.  The score would have been 17-10 but it wasn’t.

Considering all that went down this week, I can certainly understand how perhaps the focus was disrupted. But at least the team played hard and fought til the end.

It’s funny how the schedule works. We kind of felt that 6th win would eventually depend on a victory at Indiana and the season is crossing that path.

ELSEWHERE

Alabama thoroughly destroyed destroyed LSU. Let’s just say Maryland was more productive in its game then LSU. Top 4 for a 7-2 LSU. That shipped has sailed. Mike Locksley has done remarkably well with the growth of Bama’s offense and the #1 QB in the land. Possible achilles heel for the Crimson Tide is their place kicking. For a team that seems 3 or 4 deep, it stuns me that Saban can’t find an even adequate kicker.

Michigan 42 Penn State 7. It might have taken a while but Harbaugh (jim) has this team playing at a championship level provided Alabama was in the NFL. As good as Michigan has played, the Wolverines has to go into Columbus the defeat the Buckeyes.

Ohio State 36 Nebraska 31—Not this year Urban

Clemson 77  Louisville 16—touchdown for Dabo’s son was the highlight

Notre Dame 31  Northwestern 21–IMO The Irish are the weakest of the top 4

West Virginia 42  Texas 41–Ups for the Mountaineers converting a 2 point conversion rather then settling for Overtime

Daniel Cormier got Derrick Lewis to tap out in UFC 230

Tottenham 3 Wolverhampton 2  ( after the Terps game game and watching 10 games I had to find a win somewhere)
