Coach Dave Cottle had the guts to start his 3 freshman recruits on attack today and the gamble paid off as Maryland led by Grant Catalino’s 4 goals defeated G-town on the road. Jake Reed (2 goals) , Ryan Young (2 goals) and Tony Mendes completed the freshman scoring. Cottle ‘s defensive moves throttled the Hoyas and Carter and Phipps combined for 10 saves ina game that Maryland dominated from start to finish. Next up for the Terps at Mt St Mary’s on Tuesday. Led by Captain Kelly Kasper’s 6 goals the Lady Terps clobbered UMass 18-7 in its season opener.
