Under Armour Signs 5 Year $17.5 Million Deal with Maryland

27 Sports, 1 Team and now 1 outfitter.  Debbie Yow announced yesterday that a deal had been reached with Under Armour to outfit all 27 of Maryland’s teams.  Kevin Plank, former member of the Terrapin football team and now CEO of the Maryland based company had this to say:”Today is not as much about Under Armour as it is about the University of Maryland. We can count on having one brand that carries across all 27 sports that reflect the one team that we are. Maryland is a special place and it has bred a lot of special alumni, and it is high time that we all continue to drive and work together, and we are glad we are going to have Under Armour as the brand that makes that mark.

“Our relationship here really began with Coach Ralph Friedgen back in 1995, who had the ability and the vision to give us a shot. That is a big deal to be the first major Division I program to give our company the opportunity to outfit and have his team take the field wearing our brand. Giving us that chance is something that is reserved for very few and very special people. And those are the kind of people, like Maryland alumni like Coach Friedgen, who give those types of opportunities. So Coach, thank you very much, that meant a lot to us.”
