Jordan Williams 6’9 245 Verbally Commits to Maryland!!!!

It’s a great day for Maryland basketball. The Terrapin Times released the news Monday night that Power forward/ Center Jordan Williams from Connecticut has indeed chosen to attend the University of Maryland in a close decision over St John’s. Check Driesell was the lead recruiter for Williams and Jordan informed Chuck of his decision on the phone Monday.

“Coach Williams said they need a scorer in the paint, and they feel like I can play both the “5” and the “4” spots, ” said Williams. “They see me as a back to the basket player, but one who, in time, can step out a little and face up too. That is a part of my game which I hope to improve, and I think Coach Williams can help me get better with that aspect of my play. My ability to step out a bit and shoot, and my ball handling need the most work. But I do feel like I can score down low, and that is what Maryland needs.”

Williams joins James Padgett from Abraham Licoln High in Brooklyn as part of a superb 2009 class.
