Tampa Bay Comes into Focus as Terps (7-3 4-2 in the ACC) Defeat Tar Heels 17-15

The Maryland Terrapins certainly control their own destiny at this point. Win the last 2 games and it’s on to Tampa Bay for the ACC Championship, with the prize for the winner of a BCS trip to the Orange Bowl!!!!!

Some observations of a Classic game!!!

Certainly if the Terps go on to Tampa, the great 3rd catch of Ronnie Tyler will be remembered as the play that got us there.

Chris Turner picked a 4th and 5 in the 4th quarter to have his first run of the year, a 9 yard first down jaunt. Harpo made every key play necessary to win in the final drive.

Should Boston College lose at Wake in the afternoon, the Terps will need only to defeat FSU to clinch the division title. Otherwise the title will have to be decided on the road at BC on Nov 29.

Da”Rel Scott bounced back with a 129 yard rushing performance.

I was surprised Ralph elected not to go for 2 in either of his first 2 td’s to in crease the Terrapin lead to 3 points. 15-14 looked like the final score for quite a long time.

Hats off to the defense turning in its finest performance of the year.

Ralph commented on Sunday courtesy of Terrapin Times:

Believing that they can accomplish this is starting to become a reality now. I don’t know if sometimes they always believed in it as much as I did.
“They made two great comebacks to win games in adverse situations, which I am very proud of the way they continue to compete.”
