Terps Collapse in 2nd Half Lose to BC 76-67 -Fall to 2-4 in ACC

I stated this morning how crucial tonight’s game was and it seemed like the Terps were ready as they exploded to a 40-29 halftime lead. But then a switched turned off the Terrapins defense and shooting. Probably it was the 3rd foul on Landon but in any event it’s a trend Maryland just can’t seem to break. In the post game press conference Gary was asked about the 2nd half meltdowns “If I knew, it wouldn’t happen if I could find a way to fix it. The one thing defense always gives you is a way to stop the other team. If you’re a good defensive team, and we are for 20 minutes usually, and the second half we don’t play as good defense. I really wish I knew the answer to that, but I don’t. We’re going to work on it. It’s one of those things that we have to find a way to make that happen.”( Audio of Williams’ Press conference)  williams-after-bc

The door is closing on the road to 9 wins in the ACC. Perhaps it is time for a lineup change or two. Eric Hayes has shot 1-14 from the field in the past 2 games, perhaps if he came off the bench it would improve his offense. Maybe Gary will change the look of the team and replace Eric with Dino in the starting lineup , providing the Terps with a more traditional look.  Could the addition of Sean Mosley in the starting lineup provide more toughness and rebounding that is needed.

    Some other observations:

Freshman Jin Soo Kim has been ruled academically ineligible, pending an appeal from the U Of M.

With each game that passes Dino Gregory continues to improve. Look for morePT for Dino in the next few games.

Maryland 41- 34 edge in rebounds

Driving home was treacherous. Weather certainly kept the crowd down.

Next up is Miami on Saturday at 8PM at Comcast.

Saturday is also the first lacrosse scimmage at 12 Noon vs Loyola and Delaware
