Joe Cummings, Will Yeatman Impress at Scrimmage vs Princeton

Win the faceoffs should become the battle cry of the 2009 Maryland Terrapin Lacrosse Team. The attack is so strong that if the Terps can dominate the draws no team can beat them, Some observations of the scrimmage today:

Freshman Joe Cummings is earning his minutes. he seems really to have a knack for finding his shots.

Will Yeatman looks like a Jonathan Ogden who can handle the stick. He seemed to dwarf the Princeton team.

Goalie Jason Carter was not sharp today as Princeton blistered him with several late goals. Phipps seemed more in tuned to the defense.

Coach Cottle’s concern about the middies will vanish as both of the lines looked excellent.

For a scrimmage, both teams got a little testy toward the end of the game.

I was impressed with Stevenson’s tenacity as I watched them battle with the Terps. Remember Stevenson (formerly Villa Julie) is a D3 school.

The season starts for the Terps next Friday in Florida against Presbyterian.
