The 5th foul on Greivis was a ticky tack charge right in front of the Maryland bench. It would not have been so bad had not fouls 2, 3, and 4 were also of the non mugging variety. Henderson and Singler were puching clawing, the whole way through the game. Admittingly though Henderson was great, without him Duke is mediocre. To me Duke’s bench is very weak, though I don’t understand why Zoubek only got in for 8 minutes.
Gary came out in a switching man to man defense and as usual Coach K and his 5 McDonald All Americans were bewildered as to what to do.
Coach K’s said after the game “Gary Williams is a heck of a coach. The last time we played them, they were going in a different direction. He has changed the direction of this team. The one Saturday [win over North Carolina] was huge, and we knew coming in here that we would be playing a vintage Maryland team and a vintage Maryland crowd. The crowd was great. The game felt like the old drama before a Championship fight and both teams came out punching.

in 22 minutes Greivis had 10 points 6 bounds and 5 assists
Eric hayes in 21’s absence ran the point had only 2 TO’s in 31 minutes
2 big 3’s to move the lead to 66-60 was all she wrote
Next up for Terps– a life or death game Sunday night at NC State.
