Baltimore native and Carolina Alum, Joe Breschi brings his #11 Tar Heels into College Park for a crucial ACC contest against the Terrapins. Both teams come off disappointing losses last weekend: Maryland to UMBC and Carolina to Duke 12-8. Key matchups tomorrow include faceoffs with Shane Walterhoefer going up again Bryn Holmes and Jeff Reynolds. Look for Mike Griswold to take on the assignment of Bart Wagner, North Carolina’s premier scorer. I am curious to see who gets the call in the nets. Brian Phipps is up but if Coach Cottle might decide on Grant Carter who was the winning keeper in the Bryant game and also the fact that it is Senior day.
Prior to the game the University of Maryland, its athletics department and the men’s lacrosse program will honor its 14 seniors:Jason Carter, Anthony Costanzo, Danny Gallagher, Mike Griswold, Dan Groot, Spencer McAllister, Rob Morrison, David O’Quinn, Jeff Reynolds, Chris Rhine, Jeremy Sieverts, Kevin Slafkosky, Scott Tompkins and Nick Ward. The 2009 senior class has compiled a 37-19 (.661) record during the past four seasons in College Park They have also helped Maryland to the 2006 Final Four.
