I read today that teams that lose multi overtime games usually lose the next game they play. I was hoping that was a quirky statistical fact. It wasn’t. the Terps took a 2-1 lead into the 2nd quarter, held possession of the ball for 6 minutes or so and missed shot after shot. Navy scored twice in the closing minutes of the half to take a 3-2 lead and never looked back.Navy’s goalie Tommy Phelan had 17 saves always seeming to know where Maryland’s shots were heading.Coach Cottle tried using a 4th attackman early in the game to no avail. I had a chance to talk with Will Yeatman after the game. will-yeatman-after-navy So now the Terps are up against the wall with a 6-4 record and next Saturday their ultimate rivals game with Johns Hopkins. On the other hand the Lady Terps behind Laura Merrifield’s 8 goals defeated Penn State 20-12 and remained undefeated at 12-0.
