Add Blake Griffin to the Wizards and they could have been a contender. The ping pong balls worked against the Bullets and they wound up with the 5th pick in one of the worst NBA drafts in memory. Everyone past Griffin is questionable including Spain’s Ricky Rubio. Thabeet, Tyreke Evans –no guarantees with these guys. Randy Foye averaged 16 points last year and Mike Miller is a dead eye 3 point shooter. Ernie gave up Etan Thomas’ big salary and potential chemistry problems when Brendan returns, the 5th pick, Pecherov and Darius Songalia. This is not a trade , it is highway robbery. Depth will have been added to the front court, salaries will have been dumped, and now Caron won’t have to play 48 minutes 81 times!!!! Is that Flip Saunders doing cartwheels in front of the Verizon Center.

So you think the zards could now be contenders? You don’t understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let’s face it. It was you, Charley. To me the only player that would have made sense to pick for the Wizards had they kept the 5th pick would have been Curry. I think he has great court sense, a great shooter, good ball handler and may even grow an inch or two. That said the Wiards picked up to perimeter gys who will add some atleticism and depth. Foye shots about 42% from the field and less than 40% from beyond the arc. Miller shots about 45% on two’s and 41% on 3’s with good court sense. Is Gilbert Arenas a score first point guard on a shooting guard. I think Gilbert looks as himself as the Wizards Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant who both played/play the off guard. If Gilbert wants to average 30 pts a game he needs to let someone else run the offense. And I still think even with a healthy Hayward the Wizards are weak upfront. They appear to me a strictly a perimeter team. i do believe their best player is Caron Butler and I would build the team around him.
