Does it ever end. Last night Cesar Izturis forgot to check with his 3rd base coach when rounding 2nd base. “With Cesar Izturis on first base and one out, Brian Roberts hit a shot off the right-field wall. Izturis, who was running on the pitch, never picked up the ball as he slid into second and eventually headed back to first base. He finally turned around and started running, but he had to settle for getting to third base with one out. Nolan Reimold suffered the same fate in the fifth, making it only to third despite running on Matt Wieters’ single off the wall to right field.” (from the Sun)
Following these blunders, Brian Roberts broke late on a wild pitch and was thrown out at the plate. These mistakes ruined a brilliant pitching performance by David Hernandez. It is these kind of mistakes that could cost Dave Trembley his job.

don’t forget the terrible situational hitting by izturis. comes up with a man on second and no outs and k’s..can’t even hit the ball to the right side of the infield to move the man up. then comes up with 1st and 3rd no outs and k’s again. hernandez pitched well well especially after throwing about 60 pitches in the first 2 innings. will tillman pitch tomorrow?

and with roberts on his slide at home. he had no chance of getting to the plate. coke did what he was suppose to do, block the plate. roberts needed to go directly into coke to try to dislodge the ball. poor play all the way around for roberts.
