Seven Terps Named to All ACC Academic Lacrosse Team–McFadden Named Female Scholar Athlete of the Year

 Seven members of the University of Maryland men’s lacrosse team were named to the 2009 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic team as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford.  Leading the way for the Terps were senior Jeff Reynolds and junior Brian Phipps, who each made the team for the third time. Joining Reynolds and Phipps on the team from Maryland are seniors Mike GriswoldScott Tompkins and Nick Ward and sophomores Grant Catalino and Brett Schmidt.  To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. Caitly Mcfadden was named the ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year.  McFadden completed a conference award sweep this year by winning the ACC Player of the Year, Tournament Most Valuable Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards.A Kinesiology major, McFadden is a three-time ACC All-Academic team selection and was tabbed IWLCA National Midfielder of the Year in 2009 after pacing the Terps with 86 points on 54 goals and 32 assists. McFadden, who hails from Phoenix, Md., was also a Tewaaraton Trophy finalist as well as racking up first-team All-American status for the first time in her career.
