Despite Clutch Hit By Tex, Mercenary Celebration Delayed 2 Days as Angels Win 7-6

Finally Tex came through with a 3 run double to temporarily turn the game around for the Yankees. The highlight of the game for me was the stupidity manager Mike Scioscia displyed by removed Lackey from the gamewhile he was still pitching a shutout. Hopefully , the free agent lackey will come to his senses and journey to the O’s where he is really needed. How is that for wishful thinking? Anyway  as I told my Philly friends, enjoy the next few days because Judgement Day is coming when they face the Mercenaries.

The Angels came out in the first inning like a boxer looking for the quick knockout. With A.J. Burnett toeing the slab for the Evil Empire, the Halos hit line drive after line drive and quickly jumped out to a 4 nothing lead. Burnett settled down and matched Angels ace John Lackey who had a shutout going into the top of the 7th. With 2 out and the bases loaded, Lackey grudgenly handed the ball over to Manager Mike Scioscia who brought in southpaw reliefer Darren Oliver, who promptly gave up a bases clearing double to the Yankee first baseman Mark Texiera. The Bronx Bombers put a 6 spot on the board to take a 6-4 lead going to the bottom of 7th. But the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Orange County Southern California U.S.A. got off the mat after taking the mandatory 8 count and rallied back to gain a 7-6 decision sending the 2 teams back to The Big Apple for game 6 of the A.L.C.S. As a lifelong Orioles fan I hate the Yankees, though a Yankee-Phillies World Series would be great. The early weather forecast for N.Y. on Saturday nite is temps in the 50’s with a 90% chance of rain.
