The No. 8 University of Maryland women’s soccer team’s home unbeaten streak of nine matches, dating back to last season, came to an end Thursday night at Ludwig Field with a 3-1 loss to No. 11 Wake Forest. Maryland, who had held the ACC’s longest unbeaten streak at six games, drops to 12-3-2 on the season and 4-3-2 in conference play. Wake Forest improves to 13-3-2 overall and 5-2-2 in the ACC.
“This loss hurts,” said Maryland head coach Brian Pensky. “We knew that there was a lot on the line tonight. Having said that, I thought we played quite well. . To win games in this league you can’t give up three goals and our kids know that, will learn from it and get better.” (from umterps.com)
