What an incredible final 2 minutes!! The Terrapins stepped up their defense and almost pulled a stunning upset over the top ranked tournament seed. A 35 foot jumper by Jackie Nared banged off the boards as the game ended. The Terps will have to wait until Monday March 15 to see if they receive and NCAA bid.
“Everybody in our locker room believed we were going to win,” Maryland’s Lori Bjork said. “That makes it tough to take. When you invest that much emotionally and think you’ve got it and believe you can do it and then not be able to win, it’s frustrating.”
• Sophomore Lynetta Kizer had 16 points on 4-for-10 shooting and going 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. She added six rebounds and one steal.
• Sophomore Anjale Barrett put up 15 points, her ninth double-figure point performance. She went 4-for-5 from the line, added one assist and two steals.
• Senior Lori Bjork registered 14 points on 4-for-6 shooting, all from beyond the arc. She was also 2-for-2 from the free throw line, had one assist and one steal.
