Maryland Movin’ On — Terps 10 Cavs 6—Behind the Leadership of Captain McFadden

The Terps will have a shot at avenging their lone regular season loss on Sunday after they ousted UVA on Saturday by a final score of 10-6.  I didn’t feel like either team ever got into much of a rhythm offensively, but the Terps were able to string a few more goals together when they needed to in the 2nd half.  The game was decided in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half, when Maryland came out firing and took a decent lead early in the half. Besides putting the crowd to sleep, Virginia’s slowdown strategy backfired when the Terps scored the first 3 times they touched the ball in the 2nd half. It’s amazing Caitlyn McFadden control the game when Maryland has a lead. She has to be climbing in consideration for the Tewaaraton Award.

UVA turned the ball over 14 times, while Maryland only gave it up 7 times.  The Cavs were also only 1-4 on their free position shots, while the Terps were 5-7.  Laura Merrifield and Brandi Jones both had hat-tricks for Maryland. Brittany Kalkstein tallied 4 goals for the Cavs.
