Canes Defeat Terps 5-1 Despite Stellar Performance From Brett Harman

Maryland starting pitcher Brett Harman struck out 10 in 6 1/3 innings but Nathan Melendres’ solo home run sparked a three-run fifth inning that propelled the Hurricanes to a 5-1 victory Friday night. Maryland outhit Miami 11 to10, but left 11 runners on base and managed to score just one run. Harman was nearly unhittable early on, striking out seven through the first four innings. Four of the first six outs he recorded were strikeouts and he surrendered just one hit in the first three frames.
