Pictured is Scott Rodgers, Nore Dame’s Goalie who put his team on his back but wasn’t able to outlast Duke yesterday at M&T. The game was a yawner until the very end. Perhaps this is the style of play Coach Corrigan prefers — it has been effective. The game paled in interest to Saturday’s Semifinal between Duke and UVA and certainly was less interesting then the lady Tsrps victory over Northwestern. Perhaps the intense heat slowed the game down , but the final was similar to previous games Notre Dame had played. Coach Danowski from Duke mentioned that the win wiped out Duke’s frustration over the past few years. Remember 3 of the players who were clearly responsible for today’s victory–Sam Payton, Ned Crotty, and Steve Schoeffel were 5th year players who received the extra year of elligibilty from the NCAA. It’s just the facts!!!!
Scott Rodgers put on a performance reminding everyone of Virginia’s Tillman Johnson. He was acrobatic, clutch, and clearly responsible for the run of the Irish. A tremendous play by Duke’s long stick face off guy did the Irish in.
