History was made for the No. 4/6 University of Maryland women’s soccer team as junior Sade Ayinde scored both goals to lead the Terps to its first-ever victory over No. 2/2 North Carolina, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Fetzer Field. “It would be an understatement to say that this is a good day to be a Terp,” said Maryland head coach Brian Pensky. “We’re just so elated for our group. The fashion in which this game was won makes it even more special. We’ve been on the road for five days; we lost a tough game Thursday, and were without two starters today, and we went down 1-0 four minutes into today’s game. This just speaks volumes about the character and determination of our team. from umterps.com
