DC United Signs Sophomore Ethan White

Maryland defender Ethan White has signed to play professionally with Major League Soccer’s D.C. United, becoming the squad’s fourth Homegrown player, the club announced Tuesday morning. White, a sophomore, progressed from United’s Academy to Maryland, where he led the Terps to back-to-back NCAA Quarterfinal appearances and a 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference title. The Kensington, Md., product helped Maryland equal its program-best mark for shutouts in a season (15) and was tabbed a second team All-ACC selection for his efforts.”It’s always been a dream for Ethan to play professionally and for D.C. United,” head coach Sasho Cirovski said. “We are happy for him and his family that he has been able to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional player for his hometown club. Ethan has tremendous potential and we have seen tremendous strides over his past two years and know that the best is yet to come.” from umterps.com
