It did not take much enticement for Randy Edsall to leave UConn. It never does when you go from making $350,000 a year to $2 million for doing essentially the same job. He was so anxious to close the deal, he did not accompany his team home. For that, Uconn is obviously mad. Early word has it that Edsall will bring his coordinators with him, thus probably spelling the end of Don Brown. Here’s hoping that Edsall hits the ground running with the nucleus of the 3rd best team in the ACC returning.Familiarity with his opponents should help next year as Maryland plays West Virginia, Temple, and Notre Dame as well as a walkover against Towson.
Edsall should have much more success at recruiting in the talent wealthy mid atlantic area of the country. Some comparative stats–there are 10 forner UConn players in the NFL while Maryland has produced 27 currently. Hopefully Edsall can do more with the surplus in talent.
