Loyola Edges Spalding 51-45 at Blakefield

It was Monday night and I had promised Pat McKindless and Spalding Head Coach Derrick Lewis, I would get to one of their games and I was not disappointed. Great effort and intensity from both sides of the court led to 16-16 halftime score. Things opened up in the 2nd half as Junior Guard Dan Vigus exploded from the outside and wound up with 20 points for the Dons and Greg Brown kept Spalding in the game with 15. Two Seniors that stood out were Loyola point guard Dave Marsh and Spalding forward Eric Fisher. Derrick Lewis of course is the former Terp who set shot blocking records that still stand. Derrick and Pat have helped turn around the Spalding program. I should mention that I had the pleasure and honor of watching the game with Baltimore Basketball legend, Snuffy Smith.
