Jordan’s 21 Points and 15 Rebounds Lead Terps to Huge Road Win at Georgia Tech–74-63

Make it 3 super wins in a row and yes the Terps seem to have turned the corner on the season. What does this game setup? A monster game against the Blue Devils who were shellacked by Steve Lavin’s Seton Hall team today in New York. Jordan Williams was back to his dbl dbl form as he finished with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Sean Mosley had his best game of the year finishing with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

A significant part of the victory tonight was the ability to make free throws down the wire as the Terps were 24-32 for 75%. Terrell Stoglin finished with 13 points including 7-7 from the foul line. Maryland seemingly had the game wrapped up with a 13 point lead in the 2nd half when pressure defense from Tech led to 9 straight points cutting the deficit to 4 with 3 minutes left.

Tech certainly missed Brian Oliver who was out with the flu. Georgia Tech lost for the first time at home. Paul Hewitt commented after the game about Maryland’s inside game.

    Bruce-
Maybe you could help me with this, or, have access to find an answer.
I said after the last game, that Bowie wouldn’t score 22 points in the next 3. Well, on 1-10 shooting, he did exactly what I said.

Anyway, my question is, we know what Jordan will do every game. The problem with the Terps is they don’t have a #2 scorer. Every game, someone different plays decent, and because of this, they have no real leader.
Does Gary get asked about this? Why has it been so hard for MD since 2002 to find both and inside and outside presence?
We want it to be Mosely, but, he can’t shoot. Tucker and Bowie both make horrible decisions and play out of control at times.
It can’t be either Freshman PG because they too lose it at times.
Why is it so hard to set up an offense, and have a go-to SG or PG that can create their own shot?
From what I saw of Parker in HS, I really thought he would step right in as a go to scorer for this team.
I said to many before the season that Parker would surpass Barnes, and be one of the elite frosh in the ACC.
He isn’t. He hasn’t. I don’t know what the story is there. It’s frustrating.
Gary never seems to cash in when he gets these top 50’s.
Let’s hope Faust is better next season. ALthough, we have heard the “over-rated” chants, and his slow senior year so far.

Also, they have a 12 point lead, and GT scores 6 straight. Md comes down, and Tucker throws up a 3 pointer 3 seconds into the shot clock. That has to be coaching.
How is it not pounded into their heads, that the quickest way to fuel a run, is to rush a bad shot when the other team has momentum. They did the same thing against Nova, and it cost them the game. Duke, when they have a late lead, never loses, because they don’t do stupid stuff. MD has done that kind of thing for years. That is how the 50 second collapse to Duke happened a decade ago.
With 2:35 to go in a game, and a 7 point lead, those games should be won 10 out of 10.
