The No. 11 Maryland women’s basketball team was edged by Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Virginia 60-57 Sunday afternoon. The Terrapins held a one-point lead with under three minutes to play, but the Cavaliers surged to take the win. Freshman Alyssa Thomas led the Terrapins with 14 points and eight rebounds, while junior Lynetta Kizer added 12 points and nine boards. UVA Coach Deb Ryan took the air out of the ball , which produced a sloppy half court game but it was effective for the Cavs. Duke is up next for Maryland Thursday night at Comcast.
