Defending NCAA Champion Lady Terps Destroy Richmond 18-7 in Opening Game

Karri Ellen Johnson had a career-high seven goals and Sarah Mollisontied a school-record with six assists to lead No. 1 Maryland past Richmond, 18-7, Sunday. Johnson, who extended her streak to 46 consecutive games with a goal, landed on Maryland’s career goals list, ranking eighth in program history with 150. Mollison’s six helpers tied a Terrapin single-game record and vaulted the senior to ninth in career assists (81) at Maryland. The reigning national champions kicked off the season with an offensive onslaught, leaping out to a 9-0 lead to start the 2011 campaign. Johnson scored four goals in Maryland’s opening run and Kristy Black added two.
