Maryland’s Andrew Valmon Selected as Head Coach of 2012 USA Olympic Men’s Track and Field Team

University of Miami women’s head coach Amy Deem and University of Maryland head coach Andrew Valmon have been nominated to serve as the women’s and men’s head coaches, respectively, for Team USA’s track and field squads for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England, USA Track & Field announced on Thursday. Deem, Valmon and the Team USA staff will guide the World’s #1 Track & Field Team at the Olympic Games in London. In Olympic competition, Team USA track and field athletes have won 315 gold medals and 744 medals overall, by far the most won in any sport by any country. In 2008, track athletes won seven gold and 23 medals overall.
