Last night I came out of my doldrums about the Tourney and ventured to Verizon as a paying customer as Georgetown deemed me not worthy of a press pass. It’s not my fault the Hoyas came up empty again but whatever. (I was late in applying as I was waiting to see where the Terps were going) Anyway what an epic matchup.
All apologies to Shelvin Mack for my claims of mediocrity. he was fantastic last night. Butler played like a team who had been there before and yes they had. I was sitting in the upper reaches of Verizon with a ton of Pittsburgh fans, And yes Polamalu shirts were everywhere. This immediately turned me into a Butler fan. i had some wonderful chats about Big Ben’s laying an egg in the Super Bowl. What an utterly nightmarish way of losing.
Who do I blame for the 2 horrendous mistakes–the coaches. Apparently they had not drilled the basics into their players heads. All of a sudden Butler is in the mix for the final four. Matt Howard was terrific. Certainly Brown and Ashton Gibbs stood out for Pitt.
By the way, it was an incredibly tough ticket to secure .
