Freshman right-hander Brady Kirkpatrick held Miami to one run in seven innings and fellow frosh Austin Kilbourne went 2-for-4 with five RBI as Maryland defeated Miami 10-2 in game one of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Terps (17-19, 4-13) held a slim 3-1 lead when Kirkpatrick finished the top of the seventh, and broke it open with three runs in the bottom of the inning and four more in the eighth. Kirkpatrick, who pitched exclusively in relief since a start at Texas during the opening weekend of the season, made a smooth move into the weekend rotation, spreading out five hits and striking out six to improve to 2-1.
