– Katie Schwarzmann tallied three goals but a late-game surge fell short as No. 1 Maryland dropped its first match of the season at No. 14 Dartmouth, 9-8, in double overtime Sunday. Maryland (18-1) dropped its first game since losing to North Carolina April 14, 2010. Dartmouth is the first team other than UNC to defeat the Terps since 2008. from umterps.com
I feared this could happen as the margin og victories has been shrinking since the loss of Karri Ekllen Johnson from the lineup. Perhaps the loss was a wake up call for the team. Sometimes the pressure of an undefeated season can wear you down. The team will only be remembered for winning a NCAA title. In the long run perhaps the timing of the loss could prove benficial.
